Monthly POS Reports
Budde Marketing, which provides monthly POS Index reports to ERA members, issued its latest summary, running from January 2018 through April 2020. Visit era.org to view the new index. According to the new report, April was 12 percent below the index number of January 2018, 16.5 percent below March 2020 and 21 percent below April 2019. About 90 percent of the companies represented in the POS Index study showed decreases in April 2020. However, better numbers are expected for June and July POS with the economy partially open in May. IC Insights predicts the automotive segment will reach a compound annual growth rate of 9.7 percent, up from 8.7 percent in 2019. The semiconductor industry research group also predicts long-term contractions in communications, computing and industrial IC sales. Read more at TheBurn-In.
The Worldwide Internet of Things Spending Guide shows IoT spending growing 8.2 percent year over year to $742 billion in 2020, down from 14.9 percent growth forecast in the November 2019 release, according to IDC. However, IDC expects global IoT spending will return to double-digit growth rates in 2021 and achieve a compound annual growth rate of 11.3 percent over the 2020-2024 forecast period. Wearables have proven to be a surprisingly resilient category amid the global COVID-19-fueled shutdown. Overall, the category grew 12 percent year-over-year for the first quarter of 2020, up to 14.3 million. Read more at TechCrunch.

The ERA Chapter Officers Leadership Training program (COLT) is postponed until the Fall of 2021. All scholarships earned will roll over and will be eligible for an additional year.
