About Mike Despotes
Mike Despotes is an accomplished technology sales executive whose career has spanned four decades. These were times characterized by incredible market growth, exponential advances in technology and how it is applied, along with rapid globalization. This dynamic environment presented Mike with endless opportunities and challenges to build and guide teams which could consistently thrive through these many changes.
Mike began his career as a manufacturers’ rep in the midwest. He then joined NEC Electronics. He spent 20 years at NEC in various roles during a time in which Japanese semiconductor suppliers became a major force in the global market. Mike concluded his career at NEC as Sr. VP of Sales and Marketing, and was a member of NEC’s US Board of Directors.
Mike left NEC to become CEO of Elpida Memory US. This was an NEC/Hitachi Memory Technology joint venture, which Mike guided from true start-up phase to revenues exceeding $1 Billion. He then spent 5 years at both National Semiconductor and Cypress as VP, North American Sales. For the past ten years, Mike has been a Sales Director at Avnet, a global leader in distribution.
Mike remains connected to the industry in various ways, but for sure is spending much more time with his family in California while trying to achieve an ever-elusive lower golf handicap.
