2027 ERA Annual Conference Attendees:

Greetings from Austin, Texas! While we are in the heart of summer, next year’s ERA Annual Conference will be here before we know it. As registration opens, I wanted to reach out with a personal welcome message and address the challenges we experienced during the 2026 Conference.

To begin with an issue that did not affect all attendees: we experienced intermittent hot water disruptions due to a faulty burner unit serving the boiler that supplies hot water to our guest rooms. I am pleased to report that the unit has been repaired, and we have not experienced any further hot water issues since its replacement.

The more significant issue that affected all guests and conference attendees last February was our elevator and escalator outage.

In the days leading up to the 2026 conference, the Hilton Austin lost service to four of our six guest elevators and one of our three staff elevators. This resulted in extensive wait times, inconvenience, and frustration for both guests and employees. For those of you who attended the 2026 Annual Conference, thank you for the patience, grace, and understanding you showed our team. You made the best of a difficult situation and, throughout it all, did so with positive attitudes and good-natured smiles.

In the weeks following the conference, we engaged a new vertical transportation company and, with the support of a significant ownership investment, restored all elevators and escalators to full operation. Our commitment does not end there. Throughout the remainder of this year, we will continue replacing aging components, performing preventative maintenance, and fine-tuning the systems to ensure long-term reliability. We are confident that all elevators and escalators will be fully operational when ERA returns to Austin in February 2027. Most importantly, our team is excited for the opportunity to welcome you back.
