January 2024 was up from November and December 2023 by 5 to 8 percent, but slightly below January 2023 by 2 percent. Our new base point of January 2022 began to reflect post-COVID-19 industry trends and a return to normal and even a bit stronger than normal POS activity.

After reviewing the past several months, we are seeing a flattening of POS sales growth, making our prediction for 2024 to reflect a slight increase over year-end 2023 POS, somewhere around 3 percent. That being said, we will have a better indication of what’s in store for the year after we complete the first quarter of 2024.

> According to the S&P Flash U.S. Manufacturing Output Index, the manufacturing sector is showing solid signs of health. Manufacturing production in the past month increased at the fastest pace in 22 months.
